The cartoonist responsible for popular UK children's series 'Mr Benn' has today revealed he was often under the influence of drugs when he worked on the character.
David McKee, who drew the Mr Benn tales in the 1960s, said he had the occasional cannabis cookie during the swinging decade.
"I remember some very nice cookies of the period. We did grow some stuff at home," he said.
Bowler hat-wearing Mr Benn frequently visited a fancy dress shop where he would suddenly find himself in the time and place of the costume he had chosen.
Mr McKee said the shop was based on a bric-a-brac shop in Plymouth
